Jake and I spent ten days in San Francisco a couple years ago when his cousin Annie and Mike got married. We really enjoyed the city and took advantage of our time there making it a trip of a lifetime. I’m really glad that we hit the majority of the places that we wanted to see while we were out there. I would have been bummed out if my only experience in San Francisco was three hours long. It is a great city. Very European in feel and the people are so friendly. We had originally hoped to meet Jake’s niece Meg for a bite to eat while we were there. Unfortunately, she had an emergency at the school and was unable to get the day off. I guess it all works out for the best though as we had a very short turn around in San Francisco. The crew was late getting off the ship and we only had a few hours to get to the bank, the grocery store, find a warmer sweater and get a bite to eat. I started looking up directions to the bank and grocery on my iPhone and off we walked. I also called my mom so that I could kill two birds with one stone. Challenge with talking and walking without the map is, we walked past the street we were supposed to turn around on and ended up going the wrong way. So, I hung up with my Mom and started to look up the map again. Just then a really nice lady offered to help us with directions and got us back on the right path. We found our way to the bank and store and handled our transactions quickly. From there, we walked over to Fisherman’s Warf to grab a bite to eat and do a little touring around. On Pier 39 I found a nice green San Francisco sweatshirt with some warm fuzzy wool on the inside. I knew I would need some warmer clothing once we got to Alaska. From there, we wandered around the Pier, bought some fresh fruit and had a nice Anchor beer on draft. We had just enough time to buy some taffy and get our butt’s back to the ship.
