When we heard that we had one day in Cabo San Lucas, our friend Giselle’s parents booked a room at the Riu Resorts and flew down to meet her. Jennifer and Jack are a blast and we had spent the day with them earlier on the trip at the Blue Hole in Jamaica. They remind me of my family, they get involved in their kids lives and support them. Encouraging them to chase their dreams and enjoying watching them every step of the way. We were both thrilled when they emailed us and asked us to join them for a day at the all inclusive resort. A whole group of us rushed off the first tender to get an early start on the day. We took a 15 minute cab ride out of the city to the restort set on the beach. There was a picturesque pool that met the ocean skyline, tons of good food, a swim up bar and fun pool games. We all paid to get a day pass to the resort and hang around. We had quite a few laughs that day. They had drinks in hollowed out pineapples, fresh mint mojitos and a great breakfast buffet. It was a good thing we only stayed there for a day… I could have gained fifty pounds easily if I had been there any longer. It was about 85 degrees that day and the cement surrounding the pool was super hot. I laughed my butt off as I watched the girls running in their bare feet from one pool to the next holding hands and squeeling from their burning feet. But the pools were cool and refreshing once you jumped in.
My Mom would have hated this place, but we loved it and had a great time. Thaks Dave & associates for having so much fun.
On our last stop in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, we got off the ship early in the morning to a light rain. We didn’t have alot of time to wander around or have an excursion. We were just on the hunt for some Jerk Chicken, a few Red Stripe beers and a couple pounds of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. The first stop just outside the port was the perfect spot to hang out in the rain. They have a nice covered open air deck that juts out over the ocean and a great DJ. The first time we visited Ocho Rios, we made friends with him… DJ Tony G 11. Nothing but love and good reggae from his speakers. Jake, Benny and I at a round of chicken dinners accompanied with a salad and red beans and rice. We decided it wasn’t quite enough, so we ordered some saltfish fritters to split as the final course. Talk about satisfaction, we left with full bellies and five reggae mix cd’s made special for us by Tony. I just ripped them in my iTunes and we’ve been jammin’ out to them in our room. Super fun. We were also successful at scoring some jerk marinade, a rub and also the coveted coffee. – Respect Mon.
