Next Phase Travel: Permanent Workation

When I started working for Princess Cruises, my company Dream Town Media, LLC was a fledgling web site and social media services company for artists, musicians, authors and creatives. The internet was a different place then. Less clutter, easier for online advertisers to connect with customers, not the realm of influencers, hackers and bots. Now, it’s evolved or devolved into a playground of conspiracy theories and misinformation. I’m not being judgmental about the current landscape, I just want to contribute good, honest content in a journalistic fashion without all the politics and bullshit. So, that’s what I plan to do here. Tell my own stories of adventure and travel while creating interesting and vaulable resources for those who choose to read my commentary.

I could move to a platform like substack, facebook, tiktoc, twitter, threads or any other online site owned by a third party. But that’s just what it is. Owned by someone else. All the stuff I write, all the links I share, everything would be theirs. So, I’m back to the drawing board online for this website.

Initially, when I built this site in 2010, I thought I’d write about my career at Princess Cruises and the travel we did during our 7 year stint as professional entertainers on their ships. I did that, then a hacker took it over and repurposed my content, crashing the entire site. So, I let it sit there with nothing on it over the past few years while I collected my thoughts. I will probably scrub through some of my old stories and share those historical experiences with you at some point during my journey of life. Right now though, I have something else in mind.

In reality, that job made me addicted to travel and the idea of waking up somewhere new every day. I’m going to take you on the journeys Jake & I take around the world and share with you not only my favorite tourist traps, but the places I go to feel more like a local and experience the culture that you can only have off the beaten path. I don’t feel like an expert by any means, but I am pretty good at finding bargins and figuring out how to go on the cheap and affordable side of travel while still keeping up my fancier life that I enjoy.
